1. Provide a safe shelter and a clean living environment for your dog
Your dog should stay away from health hazards and should also not live in poor living conditions. The place where your dog visits should also be hygienic to avoid the dog from contracting environmental diseases. It I only fair to give your dog a quality life and shelter and environment are the first considerations when deciding to keep the dog.
2. Ensure that the dog has access to fresh water
Dogs are very active creatures and prefer the outdoors. Outdoors means they are exposed to the sun and other outdoor conditions like dust and the wing. They, therefore, need to hydrate as many times as possible. It is only prudent to ensure that water is readily available and accessible to get to for the dogs and also the water is clean.
3. The diet should be qualified to prevent malnutrition or obesity
Just like humans, dogs need a well-balanced diet for their different bodily functionalities. Also one has to be careful to ensure that the dog is not being overfed leading to obesity. Obesity will cause complications and even cause the dog to be inactive because of the weight that is unmanageable for the dog. It is always wise to consult a veterinarian on matters diet of your dog. The vet will give you food that suits the needs f your dog according to its weight, size, and age. Apart from table scraps, you can also provide the healthy dog treats.
4. Get your dog examined on a regular basis
You need to be up to date with vaccination schedules of the dog, deworming and checking externally if there are any parasites. The vet will always schedule visits and give you a card keep the card in case you travel or for the next visit this assists in the follow up of the vaccinations and treatments.
5. Develop a relationship with your dog
Dogs are social creatures, they, therefore, have a high need for interaction with the owner. Thus as the owner, you need to spend quality time with your dog to develop a relationship with the dog.
